Coffee growing in San Antonio has been a family tradition for generations and is characterized by small to medium size farms. Even though San Antonio has great quality coffee, it is still a “hidden gem.” Among the three farms that were the primary contributors to this lot was Finca El Bambú, owned by Doña Vilma de Jesus Bances. The farm has had problems with its production system, and Doña Vilma quickly accepted the opportunity to become one of our Volcafe Way model farms. She established her farm almost 17 years ago and besides coffee she also produces corn and beans. The rest of the producer group was happy to hear that Doña Vilma will be an essential part of the Volcafe Way project and she will definitely receive the support of her colleagues to become a model producer.
