Ethiopia Sidamo Arfasa 2019
- UPS Flat
- 65lb Freshness
- Packed & Sealed
Arfasa General Trading produced our Ethiopia Sidamo Arfasa. The company has a 300 ha coffee farm in the Kaffa region. They also manage eight coffee processing sites, among them five of the washing stations are found in Sidama zone.
Sidamo enjoys soil and climatic conditions-including altitude, rainfall and temperature - that make it perfect for the production of Arabica Coffee. Speciality grade coffee from Sidamo is grown mainly in small villages (kebeles). Sidamo is well known for its production of "garden coffee". The coffee is planted at low density, ranging from 1000 to 1800 trees per hectare and is mostly fertilized with organic matter. All of the coffee produced under this system is agronomically organic – but most is not certified as such. About 95 % of the Sidamo coffee is fully washed. Fresh and clean cherries arrive at washing stations where they are pulped, and allowed to ferment naturally. The fermented coffee is washed with clean running water, soaked in clean water, and then dried till it retains about 11.5 percent moisture.

Good Example of a Washed Ethiopian
Did two sample roasts. First at City. Nice blueberry with hint of chocolate and vanilla, acidity blended well with flavor profile. 2nd roast was at Full City +. Smooth and rich with nice chocolate tones. Couldn't detect any blueberry notes at this roast level. Still, an excellent cup.
Fine Example of a Washed Sidamo

Good Example of a Washed Ethiopian Sidamo
Did two sample roasts: one at City, 2nd at Full City+. City had definite blueberry notes, with a slight chocolate/vanilla background. Acidity well balanced with flavor profile.I didn't detect any lavender notes. Excellent cup. Full City+ had definite chocolate notes, but I couldn't detect blueberry anymore. Smooth and rich flavor. Both were good, but definitely preferred City.
Very Good Example of a Washed Ethiopian
Did two sample roasts: One at City, second at Full City. City had definite blueberry tones, with hints of chocolate and vanilla. Complex with balanced acidity. For the Full City, I could no longer detect the blueberry notes, however, it was smooth and rich, with chocolate tones. Both were excellent cups.
