Mehotoro Estate was initially owned was owned by colonial settlers under the name Julietta Company Ltd. In 1967 the estate was purchased by an individual buyer and renamed Mehotoro Farm Ltd.
Mehotoro Estate has approximately 11 hectares under coffee production. It lies in Ruiru constituency in Kiambu County at an altitude of 1564m a.s.l. The soil is deep red volcanic soil. Rainfall is approximately 1000mm per annum falling in a bimodal pattern with two distinct wet seasons.
Farmers selectively hand pick red ripe cherries that are delivered for wet milling the same day. The parchment is then fermented for 12 hours, washed and sun dried slowly on raised platforms where the moisture content is reduced to 10-12%. Dry parchment is then milled by Sasini millers and bagged for sale.
