Uganda Rwenzori Washed 2022
Uganda Green Coffee Beans
The Rwenzori mountain range is an up-and-coming source of consistently high-quality Uganda green coffee. Genuine Origin’s sourcing partner on the ground established receiving stations throughout the mountain range to facilitate cherry collection before transporting them to a centralized wet mill, where processing can be carried out under careful supervision and quality control.
The Rwenzoris are known for producing naturals, but the new washing station infrastructure makes it possible to produce fully washed Uganda green coffee. This coffee was grown in altitudes ranging from 1300-1900masl and collected via the receiving stations, where farmers are paid double what they’re used to getting for “drugars” (dried Ugandan Arabica). Much of Uganda green coffee used to be made up of drugar grade beans that were inconsistent and often of poor quality. As a result, farmers struggled to earn much cash from these harvests. Now the new receiving stations enable great coffee to be delivered and processed into high-quality lots of natural and washed Uganda green coffee, including experimental micro-lots.
