Our AB Lenana is a blend of AB grades from traceable sources, both estates and cooperatives, and prepared by our sister company Taylor Winch (Coffee) Ltd in Kenya. The coffee was grown by smallholders, generally with average 200 trees each, who delivered their freshly picked ripe cherries to cooperative wet mills. The AB Lenana was disc pulped, fully fermented and washed, sundried on elevated drying tables. Consolidated parchment volumes were then delievred to dry mills where the parchment was hulled, graded according to size and density, and warehoused and warranted for sale.

Well balanced and versatile

by

One of our good customers brought us a light roast Kenya by the most acclaimed regional roaster, telling us that it was close to his ideal in a light roast coffee. I found it faulty, offensively citrusy, and extremely acidic. When we put it through our espresso machine the result could have passed for lemon juice. This is not unlike many of my experiences with Kenya coffee. But I told him to give me a week and I would present him with a new Light Roast Kenya that would be his new favorite and be superior in every way. I took this Kenya AB Lenana (last year's crop) and did a series of runs and fairly quickly arrived at a roast that was even lighter than the customer's sample, yet had a ph of 4.9 versus 4.3 for his. The Lenana has been one of our top selling light roasts since. Pleasant and not overwhelming lemon zest tones, with extraordinary balance for a light roast.
