About the Coffee
No region in Colombia produces as much coffee as Huila, and Garzón sits right at the center of this coffee powerhouse. Huila doesn’t just actively lead in quantity – it’s also renowned for award-winning quality and a distinct flavor profile that’s always been a favorite of roasters, baristas, and coffee lovers. Coffee from southern regions in Colombia like Huila is prized for its pronounced acidity and smooth sweetness. This lot is a complex Colombian coffee, with Garzón’s signature bright acidity, sweetness, and fruity notes nurtured by the rich volcanic soil and climatic diversity.

Temperatures are a little warmer in Garzón, and the economy is centered around crop farming by smallholders with an average coffee farm size of 1.5 hectares. Coffee farming in Huila is a multi-generational practice, dividing the labor of crop management, coffee processing, and business management between family members according to their strengths. Coffee cherries are handpicked and pulped on the farms, then washed and left to ferment and dry in the sun.

Our 70+ field technicians in Colombia work with our partner producers to put together each bag of coffee, which then goes through rigorous cupping procedures to maintain quality every step of the way, from farm to import warehouse.
