East Java Blue Fire G1 TP Semi-Washed
East Java Blue Fire G1 TP Semi-Washed
Grown in the lush volcanic highlands of Bondowoso, East Java, this fresh Arabica offering is a tribute to the region’s rich agricultural heritage and dramatic natural beauty. Cultivated at altitudes ranging from 1,200 to 1,500 meters above sea level, the coffee thrives in fertile soils nourished by Mount Ijen, an active volcano famed for its rare Blue Fire phenomenon - a surreal blue flame caused by ignited sulfur gases, visible only in two places on Earth: Ijen Crater and Iceland.
Farming & Varietals
This coffee is produced by a dedicated group of farmers—Budi Raharjo, Ali Wavi, and Mian—who grow varietals such as OSDA, Cobra, and Typica. The cherries are selectively handpicked at peak ripeness, ensuring only the best coffee is processed.
Grading: Grade 1 TP (Triple Picked)
This lot is a Grade 1 (G1) coffee, which, in Indonesia, is the highest quality rating. This lot was also Triple Picked (TP), signifying that it underwent a meticulous sorting process to remove defects and ensure uniformity.
Coffee in East Java
Coffee cultivation in East Java dates back to the Dutch colonial era, with the first coffee factory near Mount Ijen still standing today. This legacy continues through modern producers who blend tradition with innovation, crafting coffees that reflect the terroir and spirit of the region.
Indonesian Unroasted Coffee Beans
The key Indonesian green coffee regions are Aceh, North Sumatra, South Sulawesi, Java, Bali, and Flores. Green coffee from Java is exceptionally well-known for its role in disseminating Indonesian coffee production throughout the archipelago. In contrast to the long history of coffee from regions like Sulawesi and Sumatra, green coffee from Bali, a relatively newer coffee region in Indonesia, mainly produces small-batch, limited-scale coffee quantities.
