Ethiopia Organic Guji Hambela G1 Natural 2026
Organic Guji Hambela G1 Natural
Grown in the breathtaking highlands of Uraga in Ethiopia’s East Guji Zone, this Natural Organic coffee is cultivated at elevations between 2,100 and 2,200 meters above sea level, where cool temperatures and a natural semi-forest environment create ideal conditions for producing exceptional coffee. The region’s fertile soils and high altitude allow cherries to ripen slowly, developing the sweetness, complexity, and vibrant character that have made Guji one of Ethiopia’s most celebrated coffee-growing regions.
Produced through a partnership between Kuri Mountain Coffee and a network of dedicated out-grower farmers, this lot reflects a strong commitment to quality at every stage of production. Farmers receive ongoing technical support, training, and guidance, while additional smallholder producers from the surrounding area contribute carefully cultivated cherries that meet strict quality standards. The result is a coffee that showcases both the distinct terroir of Guji and the craftsmanship of the farming communities behind it.
Composed of traditional Ethiopian heirloom varieties, the coffee was harvested between October and January, when ripe cherries were hand-selected at peak maturity. Only the best fruit moved forward to processing, ensuring a clean and expressive final cup.
This lot was processed using the natural (dry) method, one of Ethiopia’s oldest and most celebrated coffee traditions. After harvest, the cherries were carefully sorted and dried on raised African beds for approximately three weeks. Throughout the drying period, skilled workers continuously monitored and sorted the coffee, removing under-ripe cherries to ensure consistency and quality. The slow drying process allowed the fruit sugars to enhance the coffee’s sweetness and body while preserving its vibrant fruit character.
In the cup, this coffee is remarkably clean and complex, offering layers of berry and tropical fruit, supported by a bright acidity and natural sweetness. The result is a balanced and expressive coffee that highlights the unmistakable elegance of high-grown Guji naturals.
With its combination of organic cultivation, high-altitude growing conditions, and meticulous natural processing, this coffee is a wonderful expression of Ethiopia’s rich coffee heritage - showcasing the floral complexity, fruit-forward sweetness, and refined character that have made Guji a favorite among specialty coffee roasters worldwide.
