Honduras Decaf Green Coffee Beans

This High Grown (HG) Honduras coffee was hand-sorted to the European Process (EP) quality standard, which signifies there are no more than four defects per 1,000 coffee beans. This coffee was grown organically, free of chemicals from cultivation through the decaffeination process, and sourced from regional smallholder farmers to create a classic Honduran flavor profile blend. Think notes of dark chocolate, graham cracker, citrus, and nutty flavors with a medium body and moderate acidity. Clean sweet, fully organic, and decaf!

 

What is the Swiss Water® Decaf Process?

The Swiss Water Process, developed in Switzerland, is a natural, chemical-free way to decaffeinate coffee while keeping its original flavors intact. It starts by soaking green coffee beans in pure water to create a proprietary Green Coffee Extract (GCE), which holds all the coffee’s soluble compounds. This extract is then passed through activated carbon filters to remove caffeine, leaving behind a flavorful, caffeine-free solution. When new batches of green coffee beans are added to the GCE and soaked for 8–10 hours, the caffeine naturally moves out of the beans without stripping away their taste. The extract is continuously refreshed through carbon filtration, ensuring the beans retain their character.

 

Thanks to this careful process, Swiss Water decaf removes 99.9% of the caffeine while preserving the coffee’s original profile—bright acidity, rich flavors, and complexity. Coffee plays a crucial role in Honduras' economy. The coffee industry is made up of over 102,000 families involved in its production across 210 municipalities in 15 of the country's 18 departments. In 2024, coffee accounted for 30% of Honduras’ agricultural GDP, generating more jobs and foreign exchange than any other industry. And things are only looking up!
