The Windrush Estate, in Kiambu county, has about 163 hectares planted with coffee, and has been growing coffee since 1930. In 1971, it was aquired by Gatatha Farmers Company Ltd. This late crop coffee was grown in red volcanic soils rich in organic matter at 1730 meters above sea level.
